Entrepreneurs who made their fortunes in products as diverse as spark plugs and dog vitamins were celebrated at the Asian Business Awards.
Sukhpal Singh Ahluwalia won business of the year with Euro Car Parts – a £225million international firm he built up after buying a £5,000 bankrupt parts shop in North London.
He said: ‘I worked hard but this is not a one-man show. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my wife and family.’
Businesswoman of the year went to Meeta Patel who runs pharmaceutical firm Auden McKenzie.
The company started with one line of products and now pulls in revenues in excess of £30million.
The awards, run by the Asian Media and Marketing Group, were handed out at a black tie dinner at the Park Plaza Westminster.
The young entrepreneur award went to Tej Lalvani, who runs Vitabiotics alongside pharmacist father Dr Kartar Lalvani, where he has launched a new vitamin line for dogs.
